now what!
Sitting on Rocky Point road, near the corner of Marine Drive @ 2:43 PM, waiting in my lane because vehicle stuck in front of me.
My vehicle was struck by Mr J.Baldwin (central road shop) driving Plow #458.
Visible Damage:
- The drivers side running board was bent inward and broken
- The kick panel the was bent & loosened (there may be more damage uncovered once removed).
Non-Visible Damage:
- The plows blade also struck the drivers side rear wheel/tire, pushing the
vehicle back 8-12" as well as sideways into the curb (Causing the
alignment to go out .11 degrees (significant according to Toyota's service department)
Toyota's service department aligned the vehicle on Monday 2/15/21 at a cost of $143.83 and is concerned this will cause the wheel bearings to go out & thus has given prices on replacing them + labor (shown below).
Also noted that the back tire has a visible line & Scuff where the plow-blade impacted the tire and it's very likely the sidewall (inside) was damage as a result, which will cause future bubbles / shortened life on the tire).
Being an all-wheel-drive vehicle, all 4 tires need to be replaced to keep tread heights in variance with each-other.
If you are unfamiliar with "Land Cruisers" They are essentially Toyota's equivalent to a Rolls Royce, they are "HAND BUILT" in a special factory
(Very expensive (base price of $85k and few are sold in the USA).

- Concerns
Concerns:
in addition to visible damage, non visible damage may include but is not limited to alignment (already fixed), drive train variance, wheel bearings (as suggested by Toyota on 2/15/2021).
Reason for concerns:
My vehicle weighs 5,815#, it was struck on the drivers side, including the back drivers side wheel & tire.
When struck, my vehicle was pushed backwards and sideways into the curb by about a 8-12". (Not surprising given a fully loaded dump truck with a GVW of 50,000# full of sand.
I had the 4x4 center differential lock engaged, so lots of moving parts that could potentially have suffered damage causing them to be out of variance within manufacture guidelines/spec for said vehicle which would result in additional wear and tear, shorter than average life expectancy, etc. (As stated, alignment showed a variance of .11 degrees (which Toyota emphasized is a lot for a vehicle so new with so low of miles).
Repairs: Estimates for damage repairs are below & are separate from the diminished value calculation.
Diminished value: Any time a vehicle is in an accident & a police report is generated or an insurance claim is generated or a body shop repairs a vehicle. An entry is sent to Carfax who then puts a red flag (accident history) on the vehicle and thus it's does not command the same resale value. (e.g. The value is diminished).
Diminished value claims are separate from (injury, collision repair claims) and paid separately.
If you're unfamiliar with Diminished value, I recommend looking it up.
Replace tires: $1,058.04 (discount Tire)terra grappler Nitto 275/55/r20's x4
visible line in rear tire where plow blade pushed into car (which tire shops says likely to cause bubbling in tire as bands were likely broken or damaged) Being an All Wheel Drive car means all 4 wheel need replacing.
Alignment:
$143.83 (West Hills Toyota)
Alignment was done at Toyota 2/15/20201) - they are concerned as the alignment was knocked out by .11 on a new car with so low of miles. This should not have been so severe. They feel it's likely the Hubs and Bearing assemblies will fail due to this type of impact/pressure.
Running Board: Parts $787.86 + Labor $232 = $1,019.86
Wheel Bearings:$4,420.28) (West Hills Toyota)
